Guess What Color?

The sun sets behind my closed eyelids

Drift to sleep as the night is born

Breath after breath, the houses settle

In their nests of dying leaves

Thousands of feet down, beyond thousands,

Rock melts and shimmers from the heat

Cracks burst into light then fade as they cool

Let’s get out of this place, dream this escape

Down steel ladders our boots ring

And give way to fields of flowers

Far away, strings of lantern lights

Flow to the surface with a distant hum of song

And a sunrise of bells
